Description

Enterprise Partnerships with Early Stage Companies in Precision Medicine - A Conversation with Genome Medical and Kaiser Permanente Northwest
A Spotlight Series hosted by Kaiser Permanente Ventures & StartUp Health

Precision Medicine has seen an explosion of funding as the science and technology of genomics advances and the costs of sequencing and computational power fall. To have an impact, these advances must make their way into clinical care. However, appropriate test ordering and interpretation require up-to-date knowledge and expertise. The demand for this expertise is rising dramatically but supply is not. There has been a 25% growth in genetic testing, but only a 3% growth in genetic counselors.

To innovatively address this challenge, Kaiser Permanente Northwest, initiated a region-wide partnership with Genome Medical, a full-service telegenomics medical practice bringing clinical genetics expertise and on-demand access to a nationwide team of genetic experts.

An ability to scale innovations can be a competitive advantage for healthcare providers and payers. But partnering can be challenging for both sides. Navigating and building enterprise-startup partnerships is not easy, but can be worth the time and effort by impacting access and outcomes that benefit patients, providers, and operations.

Kaiser Permanente Ventures plays a unique role in supporting the healthcare ecosystem by investing in and supporting relevant health care innovations that align with Kaiser Permanente’s mission.

Join us for a panel discussion event hosted by Kaiser Permanente Ventures and StartUp Health. Shruti Kothari, Director of Strategic Engagement at KP Ventures will sit down with Lisa Alderson, Co-founder and CEO at Genome Medical, and Chrsti Roberts, Senior Practice Director at Permanente Northwest to discuss the Genome KP Northwest partnership, how Genome Medical has evolved their business model to approach/work with healthcare systems, critical success factors of the KP Northwest Genome Medical partnership, and lessons learned along the way. Amy Raimundo, KP Ventures Managing Director, will kick off the event with an overview of genomic and precision medicine market trends.

We hope you'll join us for an evening of thoughtful discussion and networking!
